Finally — a tea that actually smells like the Nilgiris
I grew up near Ooty and missed the fragrance of fresh estate tea for years after moving to Chennai. This is it. The briskness is real, the colour is copper-gold, and it holds up beautifully with milk. Our entire household of five now drinks nothing else.

Consistent batch after batch
I have ordered this four times over the past eight months and each batch has been identical in quality. That kind of consistency at estate prices is what you never get from supermarket brands. Sticking with this forever.

Excellent everyday tea, packaging could improve
The tea itself is genuinely excellent — bright, fresh, strong enough for milk chai but complex enough to drink plain. I knocked one star because the pouch seal on my last order wasn't as tight as the first. Reached out via WhatsApp and got a response within an hour, which is impressive.

Best masala chai outside India, full stop
I have tried every masala chai available in Dubai, including the premium ones from specialty stores. Nothing comes close to this. The cardamom and ginger balance is exactly right — present, warming, but not aggressive. I carry three pouches every time I visit India.

My Malaysian friends all want the recipe — I just send them the order link
My building has a weekly Sunday breakfast where I make masala chai for 12 people. Since switching to Forest Brews masala, I get requests from the Malaysian and Indonesian neighbours who had never understood why Indians make such a fuss about chai. Now they understand.

Strong and warming — exactly what chai should be
Good masala blend, real spices, no fake flavouring. The pepper note is distinct which I love but may surprise people expecting a purely sweet blend. Would be five stars if the 200g lasted a bit longer in my household.

Tea stall owners will understand
I run a small tea stall near the bus stand. Finding estate-quality CTC dust at a fair price has always been difficult — the good stuff goes to big buyers. Arthibala Silver changed that for me. My regulars noticed the difference within a week.

Proper strong tea for South Indian mornings
If you want a delicate flavoured tea, look elsewhere. If you want a punchy, dark-liquoring cup that wakes you up and pairs with idli-sambar at 6am, this is your tea. Exactly what CTC from the Nilgiris should taste like.

Gifted 10 tins for Pongal — every recipient loved them
I ordered 10 gift tins for Pongal gifts to colleagues at work here in Singapore. The packaging arrived pristine, the tins are genuinely beautiful (not cheap like most "gift" packaging), and the tea inside is exceptional. My colleagues from Tamil Nadu were especially emotional about it.

The only corporate gift that people actually kept
We gave these as Diwali gifts to 15 key clients. Three of them ordered directly from Forest Brews within the same week. The tin lives on desks, not in drawers — that's how you know the gift worked.

Perfect intro to Nilgiris tea for a Pune household
I knew nothing about Nilgiris tea beyond the name. This sampler explained it without me having to read anything — just drink four different cups over a week and you understand the terroir, the range, and why it's different from Assam. The green tea especially surprised me.

Great gift, green tea was the revelation
Bought this as a discovery gift for myself. The masala chai was predictably excellent. The real surprise was the green tea — I had no idea Nilgiris produced green tea, and this one is noticeably different from the Chinese greens I usually drink. Light, sweet, with no bitterness.

An Indian green tea I'm actually excited about
I've been disappointed by most Indian greens — they either taste too harsh or too flat. This Nilgiris green is different. The altitude comes through. There's a natural sweetness at the back of the sip, a grassy freshness, no bitterness if you keep the temperature right. I brew it in a glass so I can watch the colour.

Delicate and honest, but needs temperature discipline
If you pour boiling water over this you'll get a bitter cup and think it's the tea's fault — it isn't. Follow the instructions, use 78–80°C water, and you get something beautiful. The 100g feels small for the price but the quality justifies it.

Finally found a Nilgiris orthodox that matches what I remember from the estate
I visited the Nilgiris in 2019 and was blown away by the tea served at an estate bungalow. Been trying to find that quality in retail since. This is it — whole leaf, complex, absolutely no need for milk, best drunk in a glass with late afternoon light.

Recommended this to three colleagues already
I drink this without milk or sugar every evening — it's become a ritual. The aroma from the dry leaf when you open the pouch is enough to know this is serious tea. Floral, with a subtle fruit note I haven't been able to name. Worth every rupee.

Good to see Kaircombai reaching more buyers directly
I live in Ooty and have been watching Forest Brews for years — everyone here knows the estate. The fact that they're now selling direct is good for them and for buyers who were getting inferior tea from middlemen. The 500g pack is well-priced for what you get.

The most memorable cup I have had from an Indian estate
I ordered this on a friend's recommendation and steeped it the evening it arrived. The aroma from the dry leaf alone stopped me — something between cold air and ripe apricot. The cup was honeyed, clear, and had a finish that lasted nearly a minute. Completely unlike anything I expected from a Nilgiris tea. Already worried about the next batch selling out.

The most delicate tea I have ever brewed — worth every rupee
I drink almost exclusively white teas and have tried varieties from Fujian, Darjeeling, and Sri Lanka. This Nilgiris silver tips is genuinely different — a slight warmth underneath the lightness that I associate with the altitude. At 70°C it opens into something almost floral-sweet. The 50g pack feels small but at this quality level a little goes a long way. Will be reordering.

One spice, done so well it makes all the others seem unnecessary
I bought this alongside the full masala blend to compare. On the days I want something aromatic but lighter, this elaichi chai is perfect. The cardamom is unmistakably Idukki — that clean, bright smell before the simmer even starts. My mother-in-law, who has been making chai for 40 years, asked what I had changed.

Three cups into a cold and I was already feeling better
I am not someone who believes chai cures illness, but this sukku chai is so warming and genuinely comforting that I now buy two pouches at a time — one for the kitchen and one in reserve. The dry ginger heat builds slowly through the cup rather than hitting all at once, which means you can drink a second cup without it being too much. Exactly right.

My afternoon ritual and my best iced tea discovery this year
I started buying this for hot afternoon tea and then experimented with it iced. Steeped four minutes and strained over ice — it is exceptional. The lemongrass comes forward in the cold version in a way it doesn't when hot, and the natural sweetness of the green tea means I don't need to add sugar. Have converted four colleagues at work to this format.

I was a two-coffee-a-day person until I started drinking this tulsi green mid-afternoon. The combination of the L-theanine from the green tea and whatever the tulsi brings produces a focused calm that coffee never managed. The eugenol warmth is noticeable and pleasant without being overpowering. Three weeks in and I have not missed the coffee once.

Gifted this to my book club — now everyone wants their own order
I brought this to a book club evening thinking it would be a conversation piece. By the end of the night four of the eight members had asked me how to order. The jasmine aroma when the water hits the leaf fills the room immediately. Lighter than Chinese jasmine teas I know, with a sweetness underneath that makes it easy to drink without sugar. Outstanding.

The best post-dinner cup I have found — light, cooling, and honest
We drink this after dinner every evening now. The mint is distinctly Nilgiris — sharper and cleaner than plains mint, with a coolness that lingers. After a heavy Kerala meal it is exactly what you want. The green tea underneath is good quality and not bitter as long as you respect the temperature. My wife, who never drinks green tea, asked for a cup after the first time she smelled it brewing.

The BOP is what I wanted all along — more weight than FBOP, still estate quality
I had been ordering the 500g FBOP for months and switched to the BOP as an experiment. For my taste — strong chai with milk, two cups in the morning — the BOP is the better fit. More body, slightly deeper colour, holds up beautifully when I forget to watch the clock and steep it a minute longer than intended. Honest, affordable, and consistent.

Running a factory canteen — this is the only CTC dust I will use now
I source tea for our factory canteen of 80 workers. The usual trade-grade dust we used was consistent but flavourless — dark and strong without being good. Since switching to Kadak, our workers have noticed. We go through 2kg a week and I have had zero complaints and many requests to keep it. At this price point for this quality, there is no reason to buy from a middleman again.

Finally — a tea bag that tastes like actual estate tea
I keep these at my office desk and use them three or four times a week when I don't have access to a teapot. The difference from supermarket bags is immediately obvious — the leaf is coarser, the colour is brighter, the aroma is real. You can taste that this is the same tea as the loose-leaf version. Keeps at my desk and tastes genuinely like simmered chai — remarkable for a bag
I was sceptical about masala chai in a bag format. Every brand I had tried before used spray-flavoured fannings that smelled nice for ten seconds and then tasted flat. This is completely different — you can feel the texture of the coarsely ground spice through the pyramid mesh. Steeped properly with half hot water and half hot milk, it produces a cup I would be happy to serve to guests. Carrying four boxes on my next trip abroad.
