About this Tea

We resisted making tea bags for years. The honest reason is that most tea bags are filled with dust-grade fannings — the lowest usable grade, which extracts fast and dark but lacks the complexity of broken-leaf grades. When we finally developed our own sachet, the brief was simple: the bag must contain FBOP, not fannings, and it must be filled with the same leaf that goes into our 250g loose-leaf pouches. The result is a bag that takes 30 extra seconds to brew than a fannings bag, and tastes noticeably better.

Each sachet is a roomy, non-woven mesh pyramid rather than a flat paper square — the extra space allows the FBOP particles to move through the water as they would in a pot, improving extraction. The outer envelope is individually heat-sealed to preserve freshness. We pack 25 sachets per box, each weighing approximately 2g — the same dose we recommend for loose leaf per cup.

This format is designed for three contexts: the office drawer where loose leaf is impractical; travel, where a handful of sachets packs in a shirt pocket; and gifting, where the box format presents well without the higher price point of our tin range. We do not claim the tea-bag experience equals a proper teapot, but we claim it is the best bag version of our leaf that can be made.

Brew Guide

How to Brew

Place one sachet in a cup. Pour 200ml water at 90–95°C. Steep 3–4 minutes. Remove sachet without squeezing — squeezing releases bitter compounds from the leaf wall. Add milk and sugar if desired.

Finally — a tea bag that tastes like actual estate tea

I keep these at my office desk and use them three or four times a week when I don't have access to a teapot. The difference from supermarket bags is immediately obvious — the leaf is coarser, the colour is brighter, the aroma is real. You can taste that this is the same tea as the loose-leaf version. I knocked one star only because I am spoiled by the loose-leaf version at home.
